A file that ends with .vcd can be one of several types of file. It could be a VideoCD file, a Virtual CD-ROM CD image file, or a VisualCADD Drawing File. Most files available over the internet in a vcd format are video disks. Some may be images of CD-ROMs, although many of these also have the file extension ISO. Less likely but still a possibility is that the file is a VisualCADD drawing, a 2D or 3D rendering of an object usually for engineering or architectural purposes.

I really do love FileCure because it's so easy to use - you don't have to be some kind of computer guru to get just what you need!

Plug and play? Not even close. I spent a lot of time trying to get my new, so-called 'plug and play' scanner to work. I was about ready to take it back. ParetoLogic FileCure got it working and saved me a needless trip (and gas!!) back to the store.

I have to admit I'm no computer geek. When something goes wrong, I usually have to call someone to fix it and it costs me a lot of money. When my printer wouldn't work, a friend of mine suggested I try ParetoLogic FileCure a try. I figured it was worth a shot because I was going to have to pay for a geek anyway. I was so happy when it worked... and worked properly!

I figured the graphics card my grandson gave me was broken when I couldn't get it work on my computer. It turns out that I just didn't have the right driver. ParetoLogic FileCure got it workin.

Hello FileCure folks:
I can't thank you enough for this great product. I just bought a new Vista machine and had been having all kinds of problems. First it was my screen and once I got that fixed it was the printer . Finally, my son suggested I try your product. It worked great and continues to keep my computer working. Thanks you.

I hate paying a lot of money for anything. That's why I buy mostly used computer equipment. Last week I thought I got taken when I bought a scanner. It just would not work. ParetoLogic Driver Cure got it working. With the updates, it makes sure my stuff will keep working and that I don't have to pay more money.

I work at a school so my mom thinks I am some kind of computer whiz. I have wasted so much time trying to get her stuff to work. Our IT guy suggested I try ParetoLogic FileCure. It has been a godsend and has saved me a lot of wasted hours. My mom and I can't thank you enough.

My wife bought me a new Vista system, and ever since I have had problems with some of my hardware. I saw FileCure, and decided to give it a shot. Ever since, the Vista and my hardware have been working great. Thanks!

I upgraded my system to Vista, and my printer started to act funny. No error messages, but it just wasn't working quite right. I read that drivers could sometimes be the problem. I looked online and saw FileCure. After downloading FileCure, my printer works great. You guys rock!

If the file is a VideoCD file, it is likely a video compressed with the MPEG-1 encoding standard. Such files are designed to be burned to a standard CD with a capacity of 650 MB to 700 MB. While such movies will not have the same quality as an MPEG-2 encoded DVD, they will be playable on most standalone DVD players and on any computer with a CD drive and appropriate software. If the vcd file has been burned to a CD, other files that allow the CD to be played like a DVD, including the addition of menus, may also be on the disk. If this is the case, you should try viewing the entire disk using one of the software programs mentioned below.

There are several types of video compact disk files available today. Most of these end with the VCD file extension. The SVCD format uses the same MPEG-2 codec as DVDs, and so will allows movies of a shorter length than the VCD standard. If you find that your player will not read the file, and you suspect that it may be an SVCD file, you can try converting the header of the file to trick your player into thinking it is a VCD, not SVCD, file. One such converter can be found at VCDeasy.org.
Files that are said to be XSVCD are files with the vcd extension that do not follow a standardized codec such as SVCD or VCD. These files may, however, still be readable as VCD or SVCD video compact disk files.
Popular free software programs that will play VCD files or VCD disks include Microsoft's Windows Media Player, and VideoLAN's VLC Media Player. From either of these programs the user can browse for the file with the VCD extension and then attempt to open it. Apple's QuickTime is able to open most video VCD files.
The file extension .vcd may also identify a virtual CD-ROM image file. This is a file that is an exact duplicate of the information contained on a CD. Many programs require access to the original program CD in order to function. By creating a virtual CD several computers across a network can access the “CD” for a program. The CD image or the vcd file is accessed as if it were a disk drive itself. Most commercially produced programs have security features in place which make it impossible to create a virtual CD-ROM image, however. This is especially true of CDs that are required to be in a drive in order for the program in question to verify that it has been purchased and not pirated.
Some free software programs that will read CD-ROM images using a Windows operating system include Daemon Tools Lite, MagicDisc, an Microsoft's Virtual CD-ROM Control Panel. Apple's OS.X and Linux offer disk reading and virtual disk mounting tools as part of their operating systems.
Files with the .vcd file extension may also be VisualCADD Drawing Files. If this is the case, you will need the VisualCADD program or a VisualCADD viewer to be able to open and view the file. VisualCADD files record data representing objects in either two or three dimensions, along with appropriate size metrics. The Tracks viewer at www.acadsltns.com is available free of charge, and enables users to view but not modify VisualCADD files. This is a good program to use to test if a file with the vcd extension is in fact a VisualCADD file, especially if the file does not seem to be either a video compact disk file or a CD-ROM image file.
